Welcome Back Feast
Sunday September 14 after church
Bring your meat, a salad to share, and your chairs and games for an after church BBQ fiesta to celebrate the beginning of many things. We would like to get everyone together to share a meal and to share some exciting new things happening at FCCB.

This Fall, Lord willing, we will be starting up some new discipleship groups including a “Come & See” group for those who are asking questions about Jesus. In addition, we are adding a piece of our discipleship puzzle that we are really excited about. Beginning in October we are launching Life Journey Groups where those in similar stages of life can gather for fellowship around some relevant and interactive teaching. These will occur one Sunday a month from 10:45 – 11:30. We will initially begin with two groups (one for those raising kids and one for those no longer raising kids) meeting on separate Sundays. We are also jazzed up about some ideas in our youth ministry that include discipleship, outreach, and a bi-weekly gathering which will aim to connect kids and allow them to hear more about Jesus. The practical side of all these initiatives is that they require people resources, physical plant improvements, and finances in a tight fiscal time. So in addition to communicating these projects, we also need to share some of the challenges that we face.

Please make plans to join us on 9/14 with some food and anticipate digesting lots of communication as well as we journey on towards Christ together.

October is Rochester Manor Month
Sundays 3:15 - 4:00 PM
We will once again be leading the worship services at the Rochester Manor in October. If you want to experience ministry to people that fit Jesus’ term “the least of these” then you are invited to join us throughout the month of October. The ministry of presence goes along way for these saints, so make plans if you want to pursue your journey out in this tangible way.

Introducing Life Journey Groups
Beginning October 2008
One Sunday a month 10:45-11:30am
Sundays seem to be different these days at FCCB. Do you know all the names and stories of the people who join us for worship? Probably not. While the Sunday worship experience is important for the follower of Jesus, its main purpose is worship, not fellowship. So your Elder team has put plans in place to create an environment where authentic friendships can be pursued and common life experiences can be shared. Life Journey Groups will be a connecting time wrapped around some engaging teaching, prayer, snacks, and outreach plans. They will be a place for us to fellowship together, but will also significantly be a place to connect newcomers into the life of our church. We are hosting two Life Journey Groups: one for those who are raising kids and one for those who are beyond raising kids. Each Life Journey Group will meet once a month from 10:45 to 11:30. More details will be coming soon so stay tuned in. There’s a place for you!
Stay Tuned!!!

Host a Table at the Annual Options for Women Banquet

Options for Women is looking for churches willing to host a table of eight at their annual banquet and fundraiser. Their goal is to raise $1000 per table of eight. FCCB is committed to support their vital ministry to the unborn and the mothers of the unborn and so we have a good challenge before us. We are looking for 8 people willing to donate significant money ($125 each) and/or a sponsor(s) from FCCB to match funds or help offset this amount to enable eight to attend. Are you willing to be a part? If so, then please email Pastor Scott at scott@ourfccb.org and he will get you connected. You can read the full letter from Options for Women here.

FCCB LIFE

Journeying on!!
A Heart for Christ, His Church and the World … Kind of a catchy tagline, but see how our journeys up towards Christ, in towards one another, and out toward the world will have a major impact on the future of FCCB. Watch the video  from our vision dinner in February 2007 and see how the map has come together. Our vision is to be a worshiping community of growing disciples living out Christ’s love for the world. There’s a place in that adventure for you!

Despair or Doubt ... Or Either??
Two feet of snow has become 1 foot of snow. Thirty degrees has turned into fifty degrees. The seasons are in transition as life begins to creep out of the death of winter. Springtime is surely a time of the year that many of us long for – the yard will be cared for, the gardens tilled, and outdoor adventures become possible will little gear required. But why do we long for this season so?

“I don't know when. I don't know where. At some point in my life, I lost the Christmas spirit, or at least what I thought was the Christmas spirit.

Oh, I can still remember some fabulous Christmas mornings. Sneaking out of my bedroom at 4 a.m. to see what Santa had left under the tree. The most memorable year included Lincoln Logs, a Davy Crockett outfit, and the preschool version of the Red Ryder BB Gun… I remember big family dinners on a card table set up in the living room. I remember testing a new bicycle in the frosty morning. I remember white Christmas mornings, and brown Christmas mornings. I remember warmish Christmases and bitter cold Christmases.

Where did those Christmas go? They went the way of all childhood memories, I guess. Family members died - or moved away and we saw them less and less…
