Below are the various projects we plan to
tackle in September in the church, Hebron, and CE buidling
Church balcony Goal: to prepare upstairs balcony for Life Journey Group space.
Tasks:
o Clear out old books and material
o Bring old bookshelves to Hebron House
o Reconfigure and clean out A/V space to open more usable space
o Clean floor, lights
o Make warm room with wall décor if appropriate
o Bring chairs to keep upstairs
Paint cemetery fence by church as service to the town.
Hebron House
Goal: to move church office there, create two comfortable meeting spaces
Tasks:
Exterior (first priority)
o Remove current porch and use existing granite steps (rework if necessary)
o General exterior cleanup, removal of junk
o Remove all large trees immediately adjacent to the house
o Thin and remove some trees to create a more open feel to the exterior and to help
minimize moisture on and around the building
o Remove sign (leaving posts if OK?) and have someone start on a replacement sign
o Scrape and prime window sills
Interior (may not all happen in September, some will be done by Lee)
o Improve the entryway/end of kitchen with coat racks (from CE building?) and benches
o Make general improvements to the walls, ceilings and floors - more limited than work
done previously upstairs. Might include a whiteboard from CE for meetings.
o Improve the kitchen mostly cosmetically and add a long trestle-type table with chairs
for casual use, coffee, discussion, meeting space or even for small group meals.
o Add a couple comfortable chairs to facilitate one-on-one discussion in this space.
o Create a ‘living room’ in the front room with appropriate furniture, lighting,
repainting, etc.
o To make the spaces warm and inviting for group use.
o Move church office in the back room with all necessary support
(e.g. cable & phone lines, etc.)
C. E. Building
Goal: to close the Christian Ed. building
Tasks:
3rd Floor
o Remove chalk/white boards and store or relocate for use
o Remove AC unit and block opening
o Remove coat racks and store or reuse elsewhere
o Remove paper towel holders and soap dispensers and store or possibly relocate
o in the church kitchen
2nd Floor
o Remove partition? (if this room is to be used for youth activities)
o Install (used?) propane wall heater (if room is to be used for youth activities
o Remove coat racks
o Remove white board
o Move fireproof filing cabinets (where?)
o Consolidate library, store some books, move some and shelves to Hebron House
o Move entire office to Hebron House (network, phone issues need to be addressed)
o Move chairs, lamp (to Hebron House?)
Ground Floor
o Clean up couches and chairs, relocate as needed
o Move TV/Video stuff (to Hebron House? Church AV area?)
o Remove chalkboard and coat racks
o Get electric heater and additional insulation for the “water” room and winterize
o Shut down rest of heating and plumbing system
o Relocate music room including whiteboard and piano
o Transfer fuel oil to Hebron House or church (tank space permitting)
o General cleanup of junk
